How much tax do I pay on dividends?

I have an entire portfolio full of dividend paying stocks. I am using Sharebuilder and I think they will provide me with a 1099 DIV at year’s end. I assume this will have the total amount of dividends earned. What percentage will I have to pay on this? Is there a min amount that needs to be collected before they are taxable? Just curious. Thank you.

How do I know if I will get the dividends?

I bought 108 shares of CALM stock on 4/17/2008 at 29.00. The stock price is up to 34.00 today. I am considering to sell this stock next week. Will I still get the dividends for this short period of time? I don’t know how to figure this out. I would appreciate it if you could check it out, and also tell me the criteria for getting the dividends [like when to buy and sell]

Google has a nice option on the homepage. However, if the price is below what I bought it, it shows a loss even if I made money because of dividends.

How do I calculate dividends?

I have my own company, and I own all the stock. The last two years I have just carried profits over in retained earnings. This year I want to pay out dividends on my profit. How do I calculate this? I know how much stock I have and what it is worth and how much profit I have made so far.

When one buys a stock, he/she owns a part of that company. hence the profits should be split appropriately between all share holders, right? But I only hear about pleople trading to make quick profits, not hanging on to a stock to sit back and collect income on it. But sharholders dp receive significant dividends annually right? I realize corporations retain some profit in some kinds of back up fund, but any owner of a stock does receive profit annually, right?
