I’m currently enrolling a class to take my pre license in property and casualty. I’ve been looking for job in that field. On the application, they ask me what is the salary I am looking for. One thing that concerns me is some agents pay only on commissiong, others only salary, and some pay on salary and commission. I didn’t know how much I should ask for so i did some research on it and just put down the average making of a insurance agent representative. Was that the correct thing to do?? I wasn’t sure how much i should of asked for. What is the asking salary is should have asked for?
I’m trying to figure out if an insurance agent can offer me cash back on some of the commission he makes.
i’ve been an insurance agent w/ nationwide for about a year. i’m feeling a little tied down w/ the whole 9 to 5 workweek. i’ve been offerred a job as a unit secretary at a well known hospital in my area, making about the same as i do now, but only working three 12hr shifts (monday, tuesday and wednesday) the job sounds wonderful, but i don’t know if i should leave the security of my insurance job and totally wing it on a new career path (i have no prior medical history) any advice?
I would like to become an insurance agent in Miami, Florida..
I have an oppurtunity to own my own office and have sales agents work for me…but first I need to get my license, etc. Is it difficult?.. and how long do you think I need to work on the floor before being able to have people work for me?
Any additional info would be very helpful!… thanks!
Oooops.. yes, I mean Prop & Cas =)
I have been an exclusive insurance agent for a Fortune 100 company now for 3 years. I went into the insurance business wanting to one day to have my own agency. I have heard so many nightmare stories about going through places like Brooke and State Farm, most resently about Brooke. I want to open my own agency instead of going through another insurance company. I know and understand the insurance aspects it is the other aspects that I don’t like grants vs loan, book keeping and all of that kind of stuff. I have been looking for a (or more than one) book(s) that will help me understand those aspects. I have so far found books for small business of all kinds of business but not insurance. Please if anyone knows of any please answer. Please no negative comments, I know the pros and cons to this idea. Thank you
My home is on a direct pipeline of water-table / flash-flood / sewer backup disaster.
Our basement had flooded earlier this year. We had to take care of the problem before the mold started to settle, e.g., extraction, treatment, etc.
I filed a claim. The insurance agent didn’t even come to investigate, as he knew the problem with my area.
We had hired a plumber to investigate the pipes. I thought perhaps one may have been collapsed etc. This is not the case. The plumber said that our city’s sewage simply can’t keep up with domand; thus, forcing the water into our home.
This doesn’t happen everytime it rains. It only happens when we get those rare three-day straight massive rainfall.
Anyways, it’s happening again… I’ll have to hire another crew to fix all this bs.
Can you have two insurance claims on the same thing? Sewer Backup? Is it wise?
If you like your insurance agent or they do a really good job for you, go out of their way, resolve issue for you that really isn’t part of their job, or save you a lot of money on your insurance…is it normal to leave them a tip? Have you? Do you know anyone that has?
I might be taking a job as an insurance agent for farmers insurance and I was just wondering if anyone knew what an agent made on average. I am just starting out and I don’t even have a license yet, but i am assuming I would be getting one through the company.
I am an international student with "valid for work only with dhs authorization" ssn card and wondering am i eligible to get an insurance agent license and then a job with any company or not?
