"Regular dividend of {content}.5688 was paid on 8/31/2011. BOE traded ex-dividend on 8/11/2011."
I bought the stock way back on July 2nd? I’ve checked and I haven’t received dividends.

I’m really confused about what happens when u invest in a stock or mutual fund but the company doesnt pay the dividend and uses that money to reinvest it.
How does the stock or mutual fund holder benefit.
Is he or she making any money after the end of the year without selling the stock or mutual fund? Do they get any kind of payout?
I read and introduction to investing article on Investopedia and they got into "compounding". I understand that concept but when does that apply to stocks and mutual funds?

I have my own company, and I own all the stock. The last two years I have just carried profits over in retained earnings. This year I want to pay out dividends on my profit. How do I calculate this? I know how much stock I have and what it is worth and how much profit I have made so far.

My husband is about 5 years from retirement. For many years he worked for a company that was sold to another company. The retirement fund he accrued is in stock and is currently losing about 00 per quarter. He would like to take the money out of the fund before any more is gone and place it in some type of retirement account with our bank. What could he do that would be tax deferred and earn some interest and be safe?

When one buys a stock, he/she owns a part of that company. hence the profits should be split appropriately between all share holders, right? But I only hear about pleople trading to make quick profits, not hanging on to a stock to sit back and collect income on it. But sharholders dp receive significant dividends annually right? I realize corporations retain some profit in some kinds of back up fund, but any owner of a stock does receive profit annually, right?

If you buy stock through an online broker, and hold the shares throughout a full dividend cycle, do you receive a dividend distribution (assuming the company pays a dividend that cycle)? Thanks for your knowledgeable answers; I’ll award best answer.

After careful analysis, you have determined that a firm’s dividends should grow at 7% on average in the foreseeable future. Its last dividend was . Compute the current price of this stock, assuming the required return is 18%.
How do you solve this? I’m completely lost.

The day before the ex date the stock goes down in order to counteract the dividend. If you buy the stock say a week before the dividend and sell it the day after you will get the dividend when it is issued, correct? So could you buy before the ex date and then sell after and keep doing that with different companies and just collect dividends?
